Title: Senior Principal Process Engineer

Location: USA-Texas-Houston

Job Overview:

The Sr. Principal Process Engineer will lead studies, FEEDs and/or projects and will be responsible for producing process design packages. The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling and estimating the work effort and will advise and mentor within the department in order to contribute to the improvement of a technical area.


  • Performs detailed processdesign calculations and process design simulations, prepares equipment andinstrument data sheets, prepares process flow diagrams, and preparespiping and instrument flow diagrams

  • Trains subordinates in the useof process tools and procedures

  • Leads various activitiesrelated to the process design of specific process units and superviseswork efforts on small projects and proposals

  • Reviews design work ofsubordinate process engineers as delegated by the lead engineer

  • Participates in start-up andtechnical service field assignments as required

  • Performs other assignments asrequired

  • Responsible for leadingprojects, FEEDs and studies

  • Ability to supervise teammembers and to advise and mentor in areas of expertise if necessary

  • Fosters Innovation

  • Creates new or existingtechnology improvements (i.e., patent)

  • Creates new or improved work processesfor better execution efficiency

  • Publishes or presents atechnical paper at an industry forum

  • Presents at conferences andtrade shows, customer meetings and internal presentations

  • Clearly articulates technicalknowledge to others including colleagues, management and clients

  • Actively involved inprofessional organizations and continuing education initiatives

  • Takes initiative in makingdecisions within established procedures and guidelines

  • Provides leadership role whenguidance and expertise are required

  • Works with industry groups andhas a working knowledge of industry specifications and standards

  • Uses the principals of Qualityas an integral part of the work process including CMS

  • Leads continuous improvement oftechnical and work processes

  • Maintains a record of creativecontributions

  • Opinion is sought in area ofspecialty

  • Recognized expertise in atleast one technology

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in ChemicalEngineering minimum requirement

  • Minimum 20 years relevantexperience

  • Experience in process design and analysisproviding complex deliverables such as: conceptual process design, processsimulations, heat and material datasheets, P&ID and PFD development.

  • Experience in refining, polymers andpetrochemical technologies.

  • Experience supervising process team.

  • Ability to travel and go onfield assignments

  • Proficient in all engineeringcomputer tools

  • Good engineering judgment

  • Good supervisory and schedulingskills

  • Demonstrates initiative inproblem solving
